Sprint 1: Core Logic

Build a CLI in Jupyter Notebook that demonstrates your project’s fundamental capabilities.

Perfect for: Algorithm-focused teams who want to prove concept viability

Sprint 2: Full Experience

Create an interactive Streamlit dashboard with polished UI and real-world usability.

Perfect for: Teams aiming for deployment-ready solutions



Note: Whether you complete Sprint 1, Sprint 2, or both, all projects will be judged holistically on creativity, technical depth, and practical impact. Exceptional work in Sprint 1 alone can absolutely stand out!

Judging & Submission Requirements

To enter the final showcase, your team must submit the following by Aug 10th:

1. Team Deliverables:

  • Your completed project (one or both sprints)
  • A team demo video (max 5 minutes; highlight both teamwork and your solution)

2. Individual Deliverables:

  • Each team member must complete an AIVIA™ Mode 2 evaluation to demonstrate personal mastery of the project.

3. Optional:

  • Submit a short project blog or reflection to be featured in STEM-Away®’s spotlight series.

Judging Criteria: What Sets This Hackathon Apart

Team Diversity & Collaboration Cross-disciplinary teamwork, equitable role distribution, and evidence of peer learning within the team.
Creative/Innovative Use of GenAI Novel integration or creative twists that meaningfully enhance human workflows.
Technical Execution & Rigor Solid architecture, code quality, transparent handling of limitations/biases.
Usability & Human-Centered Design Interfaces that make AI outputs explainable and intuitive for users.
Impact Potential & Insight Potential for real-world application in your chosen domain.
Individual Mastery & Reflection Each team member’s Mode 2 evaluation confirms deep understanding of their role and the full system.
Storytelling & Knowledge Transfer Clear articulation of what you built, why it matters, and key lessons learned.

Projects will be evaluated holistically across all criteria, with special emphasis on human-AI collaboration and knowledge sharing that extends beyond the competition.
