  • Notion
  • Miro
  • Zoom
  • when2meet

Softskills:

  • Conducting interviews
  • Networking
  • Time management
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
  • Project Management

Highlighted achievements:

  • Settled down and got to meet my team members, then we were able to get the project rolling. I am excited to be working with them this summer!
  • Navigated the Stem-Away website for relevant pages, then organized the information onto Discord and Notion. I also managed to set some times for when to meet! It was difficult since we have 4 time zones to consider in our team, but we managed to find a way for it to work.
  • Made progress with the project! Gained valuable insight on the Bioinformatics pathway, and reached out for ways of communication. This will be valuable for the cooperation of the two pathways!

Hurdles faced:

  • Time Management: As previously stated, there are 4 times zones in our team, so it was difficult to find times when everyone in the team was free. After a few polls and discussions, we settled with 2 meetings and a workday of which the team will try to be synchronous, while the rest of the week will consist of asynchronous work.
  • Managing interviews: We had to reach out to teams from the Bioinformatics pathway for possible interview candidates and schedule interviews.
  • Organizing interview responses: responses vary depending on interviewees

Tasks completed:

  • Understanding our project end goal and insight on the Bioinformatics Pathway
  • Completed interviews with the Bioinformatics team for generative research
  • Understanding the pain points and shortcomings of existing solutions
  • Understanding the team’s usability and development goals
  • Discussing possible design interventions to cater to the needs and goals of the Bioinformatics team.
  • Creating an affinity map from the collected interview data and brainstorming sessions.

Goals for the upcoming week:

  • Further the communication between the two pathways
  • Conduct a few more interviews
  • Organize our findings
