Tasks Completed / Hurdles Faced:

  • I finished the 30 mins Intel provided a course for the FPGA. It wasn’t working properly first but after registering for the second time worked.
  • Installed Quartus prime by following the instructions of the leads. It was very confusing since it wasn’t working first. Office Hours helped a lot.
  • Watched all the FGAP training, past 2 weeks team meeting recordings, and the orientation video to make sure I don’t get lost in the future meetings.
  • Sent out the survey and received around 40 responses. Learned a lot about different people’s first encounters with vaping, popular vaping devices, how harmful they think vaping is, etc.

  • Wrote a brief paper with Week 6 deliverable group, which includes Executive Summary, Introduction to Vaping Detectors, Important facts and the Block Diagram for Flysense and Halo Vaping Detectors, New Block Diagram, Conclusion and Next Steps.
  • I was personally responsible for the Flysense Vaping Detector facts, Flysense Block Diagram and coming up with a new block diagram to make our new detector more effective and affordable.
  • Learned about Survey Analysis, Analysis of the current Vaping Detectors (Flysense & HALO), Suggestions to Reduce Vaping in our community.

  • Using the parts and features created our own version of Flysense block diagram.
  • For week 6 deliverables, I moved to a new team and we were responsible for coming up with a block diagram for our new designed Vaping detector.
  • Used all the suggestions and keeping the goal in mind, created a new block diagram which will be less costly and more effective in detecting vaping in schools.
