AIVIA™ Evaluations: Candidate FAQ

Understanding AIVIA Evaluations

How does the two-stage process work?

Stage 1: MCQ Checkpoint (5 minutes)

  • 10 multiple-choice questions from project content
  • 30 seconds per question
  • Pass with 8/10 to unlock Stage 2
  • Multiple attempts allowed

Stage 2: AIVIA™ 360 Evaluation (20-30 minutes)

  • Interview-style conversation with AI
  • Open-book, adaptive questioning
  • Tests conceptual understanding, not just completion
  • Desktop only (not mobile supported)

You must pass Stage 1 to access Stage 2, but they’re independent evaluations.

How do attempts work?

AIVIA™ Unlock Free (default):

  • 2 free attempts per evaluation project
  • No subscription required
  • Perfect for exploring and building your portfolio

Need more attempts?

  • Core ($5/month): 10 extra attempts monthly across all projects
  • Pro ($8/month): 20 extra attempts monthly + Context Packs™ for interview simulation
  • Cancel anytime, keep your results

Company invitations:

  • If you’ve used your free attempt and a company sends you an evaluation link, message @stemaway to request another free attempt
  • This ensures you’re never blocked from an opportunity due to prior practice

How monthly attempts work:

  • Extra attempts can be used on any project
  • Retake to update your standing or explore new projects. Note: Your profile always reflects your most recent result to show current readiness.
  • Attempts refresh each billing cycle
How do I share my results with employers?

Automatic sharing (when availability is set to “Available”):

  • Only Intermediate and Expert results are shared
  • Beginner scores remain private
  • Scores appear on the Talent Dashboard for employers

Sharing with external employers:

  • All verification happens securely via the platform (no static PDFs).
  • Employer not on AIVIA? No problem. If you need to share results with an employer who is not on our platform, message @stemaway. We will send them a temporary guest invite to verify your standing directly.

You control visibility through privacy settings:

  • Set availability to “Not Available” to keep scores private
  • Toggle between Available/Not Available anytime
Is it really open-book?

Yes! Use Google, documentation, Stack Overflow, even AI assistants. We evaluate HOW you solve problems, not what you’ve memorized.

The AI asks follow-up questions, explores edge cases, and digs into your reasoning. You can’t fake understanding - but you CAN demonstrate real problem-solving skills without memorizing syntax.

What kind of feedback will I get?

Detailed, actionable feedback including:

  • Overall skill assessment (Beginner/Intermediate/Expert)
  • Breakdown by competency (problem-solving, code quality, communication, etc.)
  • Specific strengths identified during your evaluation
  • Clear growth areas with suggestions for improvement
  • Detailed feedback per question

This isn’t generic feedback - it’s specific to YOUR evaluation and helps you improve.


Privacy and Control

Who sees my results?

Automatic visibility (when you’re “Available”):

  • Intermediate/Expert scores visible to employers
  • Beginner scores always private

Full control through settings:

  • Toggle availability status anytime
  • Set profile to “Not Available” for complete privacy
What if a company invites me but I've used my free attempts?

No problem! If you’ve already used your free attempts on a project and a company sends you their evaluation link, simply message @stemaway. We’ll provide a free attempt so you never miss an opportunity due to prior practice.
