GitHub: Submitting Deliverables

Instructions for GitHub Beginners

Only make changes to files in your-name folder. Do not make changes to other people’s files or folders.

For First Time Submission

  1. Create a folder titled with your name or username on the STEM-Away forums.
  2. Create a folder titled with the module number.
  3. Drag the module folder into your-name folder.
  4. Go to GitHub website and navigate to the bioinformatics-pathway repository (i.e., project folder) in the mentorchains organization.
  5. Drag and drop your-name folder into the GitHub webpage.
  6. Add a descriptive title to your commit (i.e., add a description of what you’re submitting).
  7. Click commit changes (a green button at the bottom of the page).
  8. Wait for processing to finish and check that all your files are there.
  9. You’re done!

For Subsequent Submissions

  1. Create a folder titled with the module number.
  2. Go the the bioinformatics-pathway repository.
  3. Navigate inside your-name folder.
  4. Drag and drop module folder into the GitHub webpage.
  5. Follow steps 6-8 above.
  6. You’re done!

Instructions for GitHub Veterans

For First Time Submission

  1. Create a folder titled with your name or username on the STEM-Away forums.
  2. Put your deliverables in a folder with the module number.
  3. Commit and push those changes to the main branch of the bioinformatics-pathway repository in the mentorchains organization.

For Subsequent Submissions

Follow steps 2-3 above making sure to submit to your-name folder.
